A Confessional Baptist
Reformed Baptist Resources
The Goal
This website is dedicated to be a comprehensive Christian resource site with articles, documents and links about theology, apologetics, creeds and confessions, education, history and more, emphasizing Reformed Baptist resources.
Select a topic from the main categories at the top navigation menu, and you will go to that topic page on this site and at the left navigation bar a list of links to on-site and off-site web publications, articles, and sites will be presented. Recommended books concerning the topic will be presented in the right column.
Most off site links feature a tool tip window with additional information about the link. Simply hovering the mouse over the links reveals the tool tip information.
What is a Reformed Baptist?
Although what defines the phrase "Reformed Baptist" is disputed, for the purposes of this website "Reformed Baptist" will be defined as:
Any organization, church, ministry or individual who explicitly adheres to the doctrines of sovereign grace, usually known as the five points of Calvinism, and expressly adheres to one of the historic Baptist confessions of faith or its modern equivalent.[1]
In brief, to be considered Reformed Baptist a resource must be both Calvinistic
and confessional.
I understand that this definition will exclude many Calvinistic Baptist websites, including many that I consider very helpful and greatly respect, but I don't believe that simply adhering to Calvinistic soteriology is enough to be considered "Reformed". The historic Baptist confessions, especially the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and its American and modern equivalents, adhere to the principals of Reformation theology which were developed from a historical grammatical philosophy of interpretation that attempts to understand the biblical writer's original intent.
The historic Baptist confessions affirm and confess the five solas of the Protestant Reformation:
Sola Scriptura or Scripture Alone;
Sola Gratia or Grace Alone;
Sola Fide or Faith Alone;
Solus Christus or Christ Alone;
Soli Deo Gloria or God's Glory Alone [2]
Links to other Christian sites including those of other Reformed traditions and Baptist sites that I do not consider "Reformed" yet still helpful will be included in a different category.
Links to off-site resources does not necessarily indicate an endorsement of all or any of the beliefs expressed by an author, organization or site.
Use biblical discretion when reading any material provided here or anywhere.
Scripture References
Thanks to the excellent free RefTagger software provided by Logos, all scripture references are linked to Logos' Bible.Logos.com. When you hover the mouse cursor over the reference, a tool tip window appears with the referenced passage which when clicked opens in a new window to the passage within context. The default bible version is the English Standard Version (my favorite), but you can select your prefered version from the box in the right column and the tool tips and links will use that version. If you have Logos software, you can select the check box to see the Libronix links for the cited scripture. John 6:36-40
Site Search
The site search in the right column has a dropdown list that allows you to search this site by section (for example, you can search only the 1689 LBCF) or the entire site. Pretty useful research tool I hope.
Copying and Linking
Link to this site early and often. Link all you want. I don't mind if you copy the original materials offered here, but ask that the authorship is provided (don't plagiarize) and never charge money for any materials copied from here.
Make This Website Better!
Please don't hesitate to click the "Contact" button if you wish me to add a link to an article or site or other resource, including your own. I welcome and appreciate all submissions but reserve the right to only submit those that are appropriate for this site at my own discretion.
I appreciate reports of broken links, broken HTML, corrections, critiques, suggestions, or encouragements. This site is intended to be a useful resource, and if you want something that would make it better let me know.
I welcome theology questions, and will attempt to answer and/or point you to resources that will help you answer your questions when I can.
Your prayers are appreciated, as this site will prosper and benefit only as God intends it. I pray that this site will glorify God and our Lord Jesus Christ in the proclamation and study of the timeless truths of His word.
Footnotes
Within the main text on many pages of this website you will find superscripted (small, elevated) number links in brackets that look like this: [10]. These are footnote references and link to the corresponding numbered footnote at the appropriately named "Footnotes" section at the end of the page. When you click on a footnote's number, it takes you back to the main text body where the footnote reference number link was located.
The footnotes will cite sources, give definitions, alternative explanations, illustrations and so on just like they do in a book.
